Five places on the equator, between 0° and 88° east, have the distances of five points on a line, so a flat picture of them is exact with places of no size — the radius measured is 5e-13 km, which is the arithmetic. Lift the middle one off the equator and the set stops being a line on the sphere: a quarter of a degree needs 232.7 mm, one degree 3.8 m, eight degrees 245.5 m — growing as the square of the lift, sixteen times for four times the angle.
