The radius a place needs grows as the cube of the set
How large every place has to be for some flat picture to be right about all of a set's distances, against the set's diameter, as the four-city and eight-city arrangements are shrunk about their own centres. Both axes are logarithmic. The four cities' fitted slope is 3.003 and the eight's 3.008: halve the set and the radius falls eightfold. Four cities 552 km across need places of 0.77 m. The two lines are parallel and apart — the exponent belongs to the sphere, the constant to the arrangement.
